Two Were Meant to Become One

Over the weekend, two of my very dear friends, Hyun June and Jason, tied the knot. For the occasion, my friend Chad came down from Pittsburgh to attend some of the wedding festivities with me. The wedding was held at a small Presbyterian church in Arlington, followed by a reception at a hotel in Crystal City.  Friday night was the rehearsal at the church followed by a rehearsal dinner at Kora.  Saturday, we met early in the bridal suite at the hotel to have our hair and make-up done, then we piled into the limo to ride over in the rain to the church. Afterwards, we returned to the hotel to party.  Here are some photo highlights:

I Can, I Will, I Do

Today marks the beginning of the wedding festivities for my friend Hyun June's wedding.  Tonight we are meeting for dinner, drinks, and mani/pedis.  Tomorrow is the rehearsal and dinner.  Saturday is the main event!  My friend Chad is driving down from Pittsburgh to spend the weekend and accompany me to these events (well, not the mani/pedi part... but everything else.)  Because we will be busy wedding it up, I'll be taking a little blog break until next week when I can get back on track.  For now, here are pictures from last week when we celebrate Hyun June's bachelorette by visiting a few local wineries and finally have dinner at Wolfgang Puck's The Source. Deliciousness.

Green and Navy

Green and navy make one of my favorite clothing color combinations!  I decided to wear this older navy J. Crew dress and pair it with my new melodious cardi from Anthropologie.  The pop of color definitely added something to this plain cotton dress! The melodious cardigan was a worthwhile addition to my wardrobe.  When I first bought it, I wasn't sure if I would wear it often but it has definitely come in handy.  I like the unique shape and cut.  Also, the color works well with so many things I already have!  Kendi Everyday would be proud of my remixing of this cardigan. :)

The Return of Spring

Some cold and wet weather blew in so I guess we are actually going to have a bit of spring with a few days in the 50s and 60s.  For the cool down, I decided to wear my Lost Time skirt because I definitely haven't been giving it much love this year and I wore it a ton last year!  I paired it with my new Evening Chill Pullover which I was able to snag via popback on Anthro's website in March.  The necklace is from the Banana Republic outlet last summer.
Of course it warmed up during the day and by the the the evening rolled around and I was out at a concert I was ready to melt under the sweater.  Oh well.  The outfit worked well for most of the day.

Tennis, Anyone?

Last week had yet another burst of heat.  Surprised?  I'm not.  I feel like it's been summer since February with a few spring days thrown in.  Since it is Mid-April, and nearly 88 degrees, I decided it was okay to bust out some summer clothes.  I decided to wear Anthro's Lido Light Skirt by We Love Vera because I love the varying shades of blue and green.  I paired it with a simple white polo from Banana Republic Petite.  However, now that I am looking at the picture, I definitely look like I am heading out for a tennis match.  I enjoy a good game of tennis, so that isn't a bad thing.  The truth is, though, I simply wore this outfit to work, and that's all. Maybe tennis another day.

Outside Looking Inside

Wow.  I'm very glad it's Friday. This has been en extremely intense week at work and I am definitely ready for a relaxing weekend. I don't have too many things on the agenda for the weekend so it will be a great time to engage in a bit of spring cleaning around the house.  The weather is cooling to more seasonal temperatures, but before it did, I was able to wear the Even Flurry dress again! This was the same dress I wore to church on Easter Sunday, but as I only had it on for a few hours, I figured I could appropriately wear it again a week later.

The polka-dotty dress is sheer but with a tank underneath it works fine.  I paired it here with the Belle Bow and the Whirl and Wind Cardi, both from Anthropologie.  Of course, I also felt compelled to where my yellow nine west shoes to add a bit more color to the ensemble.

Life's Full of Disappointment

Good morning readers!

I am still pouty from disappointment... yesterday the space shuttle flew by, directly overhead of where I work.  And, I missed it.  I was stuck inside my little office in a meeting and missed all the hoopla until it was all said and done.  While not a big deal, I am sad because I wanted to see it and lost my chance! It's not everyday a space shuttle flies by to view with the naked eye.  Did you see it?

On a non-disappointing note, I happened to be in an Anthropologie 2 weeks ago on a Tuesday... not even consciously thinking that it was a sale day! I was able to snag this Mountain Time A-Line skirt on sale.  I love this guy. He's full but not too full and the natural and navy song combo make this skirt perfect to wear year round.  I paired it with the Whirl and Wind cardi to give it a pop of color.

Shortlist

Here it is, finally, an April wishlist!  I haven't been loving too many spring things thus far this year, but here are a few that caught my eye.

Graphic Hibiscus Shift

This cute dress from Anthropologie comes in petite sizing and has bold summer colors.  What I REALLY love about it is the cute button detail on the backing.  Waiting for some reviews to pop up online before I decide if I need this dress or not.

Montserrat Dress

Another Anthro dress that comes in petite.  I enjoy the soft colors and the fact that this dress has short sleeves (most summer dresses are sleeveless)!  I need to see this one in real life and try it on to make sure the scoop neck isn't too low, but this dress looks like one meant for me.

Solarbloom Clutch

I need another clutch like a hole in the head but I love this in both the yellow and green colors.  It is a fun burst of spring! Perhaps when it hits sale it will become mine.

Another Bundle Of Joy

My dear friend, Courtney, is expecting a baby girl this spring.  A few weeks ago, her sister threw a delightful tea to shower her with new baby gifts.   I figured this was the perfect time to debut my new Joan Sheath dress from Banana Republic's Madmen collection for spring 2012.  I thought this was the perfect color and style for a baby shower tea. Here are a few pictures, including the darling zebra-inspired cupcakes Courtney had made as shower favors!

Back To the Same Old, Same Old

After all the excitement of trips and parties to show, now we are back to just a boring Outfit of the Day.  I actually wore this a few weeks ago, but am so far behind on posting, I am just getting to it today.  This is the Banana Republic Mad Men lace dress from last summer paired with Anthro's Melodious Cardi.  I love everything about this cardigan- the color, the length, the fit, you name it- I love it!  I wore this again with my Jenna Pumps from Banana.  I feel like everytime I wear this dress these are the shoes of choice!

Suddenly, I'm the King of New York!!

Two weeks ago, my cousin Emily and I went to NYC to see Newsies on Broadway. It is running for a limited time and it is phenomenal.  There was a write-up about it in Entertainment Weekly last week.  If you haven't seen it and are headed to NY anytime before August, you should definitely get tickets.  It was worth every penny.  I cried through the entire first act because I was so happy to be there- the singing (and dancing) was fabulous.

Here is our weekend in review.  Take note of some of the stage shots Emily was able to snag.
Almost showtime! When we arrived on Saturday we scoped out the scene of the theater.

We had dinner at Blue Fin before heading to see Chicago Saturday night
My drink had a Sweedish Fish in it ;)

On Sunday we walked all over on a mini-shopping spree. These were some flowers along our way.

Spring Break in Review

Last week I spent some time in Pennsylvania for a little spring break.  Here is the week in review... and in pictures!

The week started by celebrating Grandpa's 85th birthday with a Sunday brunch.

I wore the Embroidered Paperwhites Skirt again. I love how flowy and springy it is!  Definitely a great buy for me this spring.

My beautiful cousin Ally got the piece of cake that said "Pap."  Definitely picture worthy!

Afterwards, I spent some time with my niece.  She is a super cutie!!

On Thursday, my sister and I went to dinner with our friend, Kristin to celebrate her birthday.  We had some beautiful and delicious cocktails.

That Friday I spent the evening with the family dying Easter Eggs.

We had Easter dinner on Saturday night because so many people were coming and going on Easter Sunday. I got this cute dress at the Banana Republic outlet earlier in the day for $30!

On Sunday, my niece wore this cute dress that I bought her last year from Janie and Jack to Easter mass. I love the lemons on the apron!

...and that was my relaxing spring break!

Back With a Vengeance!

Okay, maybe not with vengeance but still, back to say the least.  I never intended for my hiatus for the blog to last so long!  The last week of March was really hectic, so I decided to take a few days off from the blog to catch up on life and start fresh in April.  Well, the first week of April came and went and I never came back to the computer.

The waning desire to blog stems from numerous problems.  First, my camera is dying a slow and painful death.  I know I've mentioned that before and yet, I still haven't done anything about it!  The picture quality becomes worse and worse each day.  I've been meaning to get a new camera, and, I want to use credit card points to get one because I am a bit low on funds right now. I just haven't gotten around to searching for what my options are or how to go about trading in credit card points for real stuff (believe it or not, I've never done that before!)

Next, I began the blog to get more wear out of my wardrobe.  I love clothes, especially new clothes and frequently buy things that are quickly forgotten.  I tend to wear the same old, same old everytime I approach my closet. I thought blogging would help to get my out of that rut and mix and match my clothes more.  It did, initially, but now I feel like I keep posting the NEW same old, same old... I feel like I was better about wearing some of my spring/summer things in the fall and winter with various cardigans and tights.  The problem is, now that it IS spring, I am sick of all of my spring clothes because I wore them all winter and I am tired of posting the same dresses over and over.

Third, I've gained a lot of weight in the past few months. Nothing horrific, though I am slightly horrified from it.  So, I've been really unhappy with how I look in the pictures I DO have.  While I've been posting the less-than-photogenic photos anyway just to keep blogging, I've been very unhappy with how everything fits as of late.  Plus, now when I smile, I ALWAYS have a double chin (see picture below) and that makes me really unhappy; I find it causes me to only half-smile (again, see below) but then I really hate the picture because I STILL have a double chin and only a half smile which looks rather awkward.  Sigh.

Finally, while life's been busy with baby showers, wedding showers, birthday parties, spring holidays, etc. I've been finding that I am not taking as many pictures as usual so I have less photos available to post.  I think this reason stems back to the first; because of the poor picture quality, I am less likely to dig my camera out and take photos.

Hopefully as spring rolls into full gear I'll get back on track, get moving more to shed some of the pounds, and get a new camera so I can get back to blogging!  For now, here is a casual outfit of the day:
Shirt and Jewelry: The Limited circa 2009
Flip-flops: J Crew 2009
Jeans: Banana Republic Petite outlet
