Date Night

Last Wednesday I went on a date with a nice guy (or man/boy, as my friend would say) I met out on roommate date night (read about it here).   We met for a drink and then went to see George Clooney and Ryan Gosling in The Ides of March. I decided a sweaterdress was the perfect outfit for the occasion.  Actually, that's not true. I wore something completely different, but then changed my mind at the last minute to throw on this dress and had to send said boy a text saying "running late- fashion emergency."  He was very understanding (and truly, who wouldn't be, when faced with going on a date with me?).

Dress: Banana Republic Outlet, 2010
Necklace: Anthropologie, 2009
Shoes: Nine West

The movie was entertaining, the boy was complimentary on said outfit, the conversation was delightful and, yes, I saw the guy again post-date, but don't have any expectations... this is one I am sure isn't going anywhere productive! :)

I'm Not a Fool, I Know All The Rules, You Can't Trick Me, Get One By Me

Fall Fashion is in full swing!  Over the summer I purchased the Alary Shirtdress but this is the first time I've worn it. I added a splash of color by busting out burgundy tights from the Banana Republic Outlet. I love the natural print and fall colors found in this dress. I feel like a librarian in this outfit, with the camel colored cardi.
What do you think?  Can I pull off the librarian look?

Hamburglar

Last weekend, my roommate and I had roommate date night.  We both have fairly busy schedules and rarely see each other, even though we share a house!  Every few weeks we schedule a night to hang out.  This particular night, she had to work late so we didn't go out until 10:30.  We were both tired, and decided not to stay out too late.  We went to Cap Lounge in DC because my roommate knows the bartender there.

Well, so much for only hanging out for an hour or so... we closed the place down. The bartender kept referring to me as the Hamburglar because I wore this outfit!  I was NOT amused... first of all, this dress is NAVY and white.  Secondly, I am not a chubby hamburger stealer!  After a few cocktails, though, it was pretty funny and we kept the nickname up.

What do you think?  Hamburglar or not?

I'd Dream of You If I Could Fall Asleep

Happy Monday, Readers!  This past weekend was beautiful and I spent some time outside, enjoying the fresh air. I discovered a new trail near my house that weaves through the woods; it was delightful walking among the fall leaves, wearing nothing but a light hoodie (well, I wore pants too, but I am referring to the lack of jacket) and escaping the traffic sounds I hear continuously, living in the suburbs of DC.

I decided to wear some BRIGHT fall colors to go along with the bold fall leaves.  A co-worker of mine said "WOW.  You're.... well, brave today.  I would never wear that color combination."  Then I felt self-conscious.  Maybe I shouldn't have worn this color combination, but too late I did.  I thought it was a nice autumn color scheme.
Shirt: Snape Stripe Turtleneck, Anthropologie, 2011
Skirt: Field Skirt, Anthropologie, 2010-2011
Tights: Anthropologie, 2011 (Just bought these, but for some reason, they aren't on the website)
Boots: Nine West
Necklace: 1luckysoul

Snaps on the sleeves!  Love that detail

This is the necklace my friend, Nena, gave me for my birthday from 1luckysoul.  Inside is a functioning pocketwatch
Thoughts? Is it too bold?

Dulcie Delight

You know I feel in love HARD with Weston Wear's beautiful Dulcie Dress when it hit Anthropologie's website a few weeks ago.  As soon as I saw it in the store, it had to be mine, and it was.  I wore it last week for two back to back important meetings and I got tons of compliments on it as well. I kept with the neutral theme and paired the dress with simple, metallic ballet flats and a black cardigan.  Of course, I had to jazz it up with a fancy head piece. :)

You may be wondering why I've been short on text lately in my posts.  To be frank, since last Friday I basically haven't slept because I've been a worry wart.  What am I worrying about?  Nothing important really (just some personal stuff) but it is keeping me up all night.  Whenever I sit down to blog, my tired, blurry eyes can't focus on the bright screen, causing me to write very little.  So, sorry about the short posts.  I am trying to keep some outfits of the day up and rolling.  I promise I will be back on track with some interesting stories soon!

PS Happy Birthday to my little sister, Molly!

"She's Has No Idea. The Effect She Can Have"

You may have heard that we received some snow over the weekend here on the east coast.  Yep, you read that correctly, SNOW.  Luckily fall is BACK and we've been having some beautiful in-the-low-60s fall weather over the past few days.

I decided to dust of my Leifsdottir Coming and Going skirt and wear a brand new scarf to create this "fall" look.
I received this beautiful scarf from Nordstrom from my Aunt for my birthday! This is the first time I wore it. I find I have a lot of scarves, yet I rarely wear them. To me, scarves can serve any of 3 purposes:
1. To dangle as a fashionable accessory
2. To warm your neck in times of cool weather
3. to protect your neck (slightly) from vampire attacks.
Those are three very good reasons to wear a scarf.  You might be wondering why I rarely wear them.  I frequently have trouble tying them in an interesting fashion. So, this morning I googled ways to tie scarves and came up with a plethora of ideas!  I wore this scarf as an accessory, however, it also protected me from a multitude of vampires.

Cardigan: J. Crew Outlet, Fall 2011

I love a ginormous ring as a fashion accessory.  To pair with this outfit, I decided to wear this large Banana Republic ring.  The gold worked nicely with the scarf and cardigan and the blue stone went well with the skirt.
Ring: Banana Republic circa 2008

What are some of your favorite fall accessories?

Spider Webs

For Halloween this year I decided to unveil my black spider web tights from Target.  Unfortunately, it was a bit hard to tell that they are covered in spider webs!  I dressed all in black for fright night; I figured it went with the theme and was appropriate for 2 presentations I had at work today.  How did you spend your Halloween Night?
