On Monday I stayed home from work because I was feeling under the weather. I was bummed, because I had planned to wear Anna Sui's Map of the World skirt! I completely forgot about this guy, and I only wore it once in October. Luckily, after a brief snow flurry, the weather went back up to the 50s and I decided to wear the skirt toward the end of the week.
I am still not sure that I have a top that really works with this skirt, but I am trying to pair different things with it- suggestions are welcome. The last time I wore it (here), I paired it with the wind rippled tee in maroon. I decided the colors in the skirt are a bit more orange than maroon, so this time I paired it with Anthro's torsade tee (2009) and a mustard cardigan.
I definitely need to get more wear out of this beautiful skirt. The major problem I have with it is that it snags so easily! Is there something you own that you wish you wore more frequently? I feel that way about half of my wardrobe.
To bring out the blue in the skirt, I decided to wear my nautical necklace from 1luckysoul (on Etsy). The picture is a bit blurry, but you get the idea!

I'd Dream of You If I Could Fall Asleep
Happy Monday, Readers! This past weekend was beautiful and I spent some time outside, enjoying the fresh air. I discovered a new trail near my house that weaves through the woods; it was delightful walking among the fall leaves, wearing nothing but a light hoodie (well, I wore pants too, but I am referring to the lack of jacket) and escaping the traffic sounds I hear continuously, living in the suburbs of DC.
I decided to wear some BRIGHT fall colors to go along with the bold fall leaves. A co-worker of mine said "WOW. You're.... well, brave today. I would never wear that color combination." Then I felt self-conscious. Maybe I shouldn't have worn this color combination, but too late I did. I thought it was a nice autumn color scheme.
Thoughts? Is it too bold?
PS If you didn't see Roxy's post on Anthropologie's Black Friday Sale, you should. Good news for all. :)

Still In the Dress She Used to Wear, Faded Feathers In Her Hair
After the Columbus Day holiday, I decided to break out some new fall threads for work. In the summer, I purchased the Houndstooth Collage Pencil Skirt, which, as many reviewers have already described, is much more of an A-line. I was worried about finding something to wear with this skirt, when, low and behold, over Labor Day weekend when I was shopping with my older sister, I spotted this mustard-colored top at Banana Republic Factory Store. Best part? The top comes in petite sizing AND is machine washable. That is a crazy double-score.
I wore feathers in my hair again. The same ones I wore with the Sugared Dress. To you, it seems like I wore them back to back but really there were a few days in-between so don't fret. These feathers really blend in with my hair- unless I do a close up, you can barely notice they are there!
Finally I broke out my new necklace. My friend Nena sent me this for my birthday. It is another design from 1luckysoul. I love that it pops open and has a functioning pocket watch inside!
I'm leaving on a jet plane for a little Octobercation with some of my best girl friends. Don't worry, though, I have some blog posts all lined up for you while I am away. Happy Weekend!

Drop Your Bags But Leave Them Packed
Last Thursday the girls and I tried Seasons 52, a restaurant that is new to our area. The restaurant has regular features, but also has a special menu that changes weekly, 52 times a year, hence the name. The cocktails are delicious and refreshing and everything on the menu (including the mini desserts!) has less than 475 calories. Of course, that meant we could try many more dishes and not feel TOO guilty about it!
Does the necklace look familiar? It should! I wrote about it here. Check it out if you need a refresher. :)

"Always. Until the End."
Many of you know for the past 10 years I've felt that after Harry Potter 7, I wouldn't have anything to live for. Well, thankfully, the Hunger Games came along and now I have THAT to live for (whew, it was touch and go there for awhile!)
Over the past few months, the excitement over the final Harry Potter film has been growing. The movie debuted at midnight on July 15th. While I was on vacation at the time, I was able to view the film with my family at the beach. Then, upon returning, I was able to catch it in 3D IMAX with my friend, Sara. I'm sure I'll see it at least 1 or 2 more times before it leaves the theaters. While it's not my favorite of the films (they left out too many of my favorite lines/parts!!) and it doesn't even compare to the novel, it is a fun closure to the movie saga.
What does a HP fan wear to the film? That's simple. A horcrux necklace, of course! Remember when I wrote about my nautical obsession HERE and I told you to remember 1luckysoul? Well, now is the time to recall that memory! I was able to snap up this awesome charm necklace to wear to the HP film.
The necklace features each of the horcruxes Harry must destroy before he can rid himself of Voldemort. the charms are the diary, ring, locket, snake, cup, diadem, and finally, a lightening bolt to symbolize Harry's scar.
To highlight the green stones on the locket, I paired the necklace with the sugar snap skimmers I wrote about here as well as a white dress so the necklace would pop. (Sorry about the fuzzy image- it was a hectic day and was the best I could get under the circumstances!)
Now I can start thinking about what to wear to the Hunger Games debut in March!

Nautical Notion
The beach is one of my favorite places to be. I am as happy as a clam on a warm summer day, basking in the glorious sunshine while laying in the sand. I own a variety of nautical themed pieces of jewelry. I recently ordered this necklace from 1luckysoul on Etsy. Check out this jewelry shop... lots of interesting pieces (including Hunger Games and Harry Potter jewelry...be on the lookout for more to show in future posts).
Stampin' Up! has a quarterly mini-catalog that offers seasonal products. This summer's mini featured a fabulous nautical set called The Open Sea.
I can see myself using this set to make masculine cards, vintage cards, and of course summery cards for years to come. Here are a few cards I've already made with this set. Both of the cards below were designed by my upline, Mary Walker.
